Reverend Ralph Pressley, 79, of Rosman, North Carolina, peacefully went home to be with our Lord Friday evening at Mission-St. Joseph Hospital. He was a native of Transylvania County, born March 21, 1931 in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. He resided in Rosman, North Carolina as the pastor of Rosman Church of God for the last thirty-seven years.
Ralph was a well-known and well loved pastor, friend and mentor to his church and community. During his 52 years of ministry, he pastored Selica Church of God, Cashiers Church of God, and presently Rosman Church of God. He also pastored churches in Brewton Town, Tennessee. Ralph evangelized in West Virginia, Cherokee, and in many churches in North and South Carolina.
Reverend Pressley is survived by his wife, Lois Holden Pressley of Rosman; daughter, Cathy and her husband Rickey Brown of Rosman; sons, Michael and wife Laury Pressley of Brevard,
David Pressley of Holden Beach, North Carolina, Dale and wife Treva Pressley of Asheville, son Timothy and wife Tina Pressley of Rosman, and son Kenneth and wife Lisa Pressley of Morganton, North Carolina.
Ralph was also a beloved grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Stephanie Pressley and husband Kyle Weaver, Stephen Pressley, Carrie Brown, Caleb Pressley, Adrianne Worley, Megan Brown, Kristin Brown, Bethany and husband Mark Beddingfield, Tiesha Pressley, Felicia Pressley and Emma Pressley. He also has two great-grandchildren, Noah Beddingfield and Ethan Weaver.
Ralph was a loving brother and he is survived by his sisters, Edith Fowler of Thomasville, NC, and Bessie Corn of Penrose.
He was the son of the late John and Carrie McGaha Pressley, and was preceded in death by his son, Ralph Daniel Pressley, granddaughter, Michelle Grace Weaver, brothers, Rev. Carl Pressley and Lawrence Pressley, and sisters, Helen Brown and Lessie Brown.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 6, 2010 at 2 O'clock p.m. in the chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Revs. John Divine and Donald Douglas officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rosman Church of God.
