Reba Owen Kilpatrick, age 96, departed this life, on Sunday, October 23, 2010. She was born to J.Colie and Pearlie Owen, on June 14, 1914, in the Silversteen Community of Transylvania County, where she was raised. In 1930, Fred Kilpatrick and Reba were married and enjoyed 55 years together. They lived and raised their family in Silversteen Community and in Frostproof, Florida. Their children are Marion Owen, Lavada Owen, Molly Patterson & the late Jackie Kilpatrick. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred Kilpatrick, son Jackie Kilpatrick, granddaughter Kim Kilpatrick Beebe, great-granddaughter Mandy Patterson, sisters Blanche Owen Galloway Moore & Gladys Owen Hall and brother Homer Owen.
She has 14 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great grandchildren.
As a youth, she became a Christian and devoted her life to serving God. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Silversteen, and Southside Baptist Church in Frostproof, FL. Her family was inspired by her fine Christian example, her work ethic, and positive attitude. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She touched the lives of many people by providing abundant loving care to family members, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed a full and blessed life.
The family would like to give thanks to physicians, nurses, and caregivers who have helped with her care over the past few years, especially the staff at the Mountain Vista Nursing Home in Denton, NC.
Visitation will be held at Moody Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard, NC on Tuesday, October 26, from 7 PM to 9 PM. Funeral services will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 27; conducted by Rev. Rayvon Galloway. Graveside services will follow at Mack McCall Cemetery, in the Silversteen Community.
