Rebecca Hannah Smith Brevard – Rebecca Hannah Smith, 60, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Stanford Hospital, Palo Alto, CA. A native of Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and May Gaffney Smith. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Harry B. Smith III, Raymond Smith, and Wayne E. Smith, and her sister, Dorothy M. Smith She was a Registered Nurse and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. She recently completed her B.A. degree at UNC-Asheville. Ms. Smith was an owner of assisted living facilities in Lakewood, CA. Surviving are her life partner of 23 years, Nancy Pearce of Brevard; sisters, Helen A. DeRosa, Barbara L. Davis, and Christine Hurtubise all of Warwick, RI; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Susan and Dave Donaldson and Sherrie and John Pearce; and several nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be held at 12 noon Saturday, December 15, 2012 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Karen Easter officiating and military funeral honors conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wayne E.
