Rev. Vess "Bud" Galloway, Jr. age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at home with his wife of 60 years, Clara Fay Cornelius Galloway by his side. Rev. Galloway was born in Clayton, GA to the late Vess Galloway, Sr. and Margaret Louise Aiken Galloway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Chapman of Rosman, Susie Pressley of Gaston County, Shirley Masters of Washington state, Jenny Pennington of GA, and two brothers, Randy Galloway of Mt. Holly, NC and Bill Galloway of Mt. Holly. He was self employed as a master carpenter and served in the ministry of God as a Baptist preacher. Rev. Galloway pastored churches in NC, SC, and AL. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Tabernacle in Pisgah Forest. He felt privileged and humbled that God would call him into the ministry and allow him to preach the Word of God for over 55 years and be a help and blessing to others. The joys of his life were his family. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, Rev. Benson Galloway, Sr. and wife Teresa of Brevard; two grandchildren, Benson "BJ" Galloway, Jr. and wife Tiffany of Rosman, and Benesa Rhymer and husband Bruce of Tryon; four great grandchildren, LilliAnna Rhymer, Liam Rhymer, Landon Rhymer, and Clate Galloway; two sisters, Helen Pressley of Brevard and Betty Jean Lance of Easley, SC; many nieces and nephews. The homegoing service will be held at 11 AM Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Fellowship Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Benson Galloway, Sr. and Rev. Shawn Dodson officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Toxaway Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
