Rhonda Mathis Smith, 54, of Brevard went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 10, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Floyd Mathis. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Hilda Simpson and Holly Reems. Surviving are her mother, Gaynell Shook Mathis; sons Shane Buchanan of Brevard and Marty Smith of Penrose, daughters; Mandy Buchanan of Brevard and Tonya Brown of Pisgah Forest; brothers, Randy Mathis and wife Juanita of Mills River, Jack Mathis of Brevard and Tony Mathis of Brevard; sisters, Linda Heatherly of Brevard, Sandra McCall and husband Jimmy of Brevard and Rita Johnson and husband Hampton of Marietta, SC; grandchildren, Brady Smith, Brynnley McCallister, Grayson Smith and Kaitlyn Hurst. She will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Monday, April 13, 2015 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs Don Johnson and John Drake officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Bridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service.
