Richard Edward Sprouse, "Buck", passed away on December 6th, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on December 21st, 1952, to the late John Charles and Sadie Sprouse. Buck was surrounded by family as he ended his courageous battle of declining health.

Preceding him in death were his parents, JC and Sadie Sprouse, son-in-law, Heath Rogers, brother-in-law, Vernon Gardner, and a beloved aunt, Dorothy Caldwell.

Buck is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynn Spouse, and his three daughters, Christy Smith (Jason) of Penrose, Carrie Norris (Stoney) of Etowah and Jenny Rogers of Pisgah Forest. Buck's greatest joy was his grandchildren - Jay (Kelsey), Caden, Carter, Bennett, Coleman, and Kellan. Buck is also survived by siblings, Linda Gardner, Edna Mulenex (Steve), Johnny Sprouse (Debbie) and Ray Sprouse (Christine). Buck had a large family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends which he loved dearly.

Buck spent close to 30 years working at Ecusta and ended his career as a bus mechanic for Transylvania County Schools. Until his health declined, he never missed a grandkids' sporting event. Buck was a faithful Brevard Blue Devil fan. His passions included family, helping others, fishing, NASCAR races, and spending time on Lake Keowee in his boat.

The family would like to thank Buck's lifelong doctor, Dr. Ruffin Benton, for his care and friendship. A special thank you to Transylvania Regional Hospital nurses and doctors for their excellent care and kindness.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
