IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rickie Lee
Whitmire
January 24, 1958 – December 31, 2024
Rickie Lee Whitmire, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a dedicated truck driver, passed away leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love for both people and animals. Rickie proudly attended his grandson Bradley Wyatt's graduation from the USMC, sharing stories and reflections from his own time in the Marine Corps. He also celebrated Bradley and Valentine's wedding at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, a memory that brought him great joy. Rickie and Bradley often shared meaningful conversations about his beloved truck, discussing how Bradley would one day drive it and pass it down to his children.
Rickie raised wolves from pups with a deep sense of respect and care. His connection with these magnificent creatures spoke to his understanding of loyalty and leadership, qualities he carried throughout his life. In addition to his wolves, Rickie lovingly raised tiny pigs and goats, further showcasing his deep bond with animals and his nurturing spirit.
A man of unwavering generosity, Rickie was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. From caring for his church to assisting neighbors, his heart knew no bounds. Alongside his unwavering commitment to his community, Rickie and his daughter Somer donated property to support veterans through equine therapy, further demonstrating his selfless dedication to others. Rickie also formed many lasting friendships at the VA, where he was known and appreciated for his kind heart and willingness to help those around him.
Rickie's life was a testament to the values he cherished: service, compassion, and generosity. He was a one-of-a-kind man, generous with every aspect of his life. He loved many and disliked few. Whether it was giving the shirt off his back or offering a listening ear, Rickie left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sue and Oscar Whitmire. He is survived by his stepson, Joey Nagle; beloved adopted daughter, Charity Burton; daughter, Somer Phillips; his brother, Eddie, and Eddie's children; and his five grandsons: Bradley Wyatt, USMC, and wife Valentine Wyatt; Chase Wyatt; Arthur Phillips; Gabriel Phillips; and Liam Phillips.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the lives he touched and the legacy he built.
