Rilla Johnson Nicholson Lake Toxaway – Rilla Johnson Nicholson, 73, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. A native of Transylvania County she was the daughter of the late Riley and Ellen Owen Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Hilda Johnson, Faye Miller, Mae Price, Lure Lee, and Lucy Hall, and brother, Edward Johnson. Mrs. Nicholson was a loving mother and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Lake Toxaway. She was active in the Baptist Children's Association and the Backpack Buddy System, was a Relay Coordinator for Operation Christmas Child in Lake Toxaway, and she worked with Manna Food Bank Quebec Senior Citizens program. She was also involved in Foster Care. She was retired from American Thread. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Furber Nicholson; sons, Allen Nicholson of Salem, SC, and James Nicholson (Cindy) of Anderson, SC; daughters, Patricia Galloway (Stanley) of Lake Toxaway; Sandra Nicholson of Brevard, and Judy Jackson (Brian) of Mill Springs, NC; brother, Bobby Johnson; sisters, Millie Stevens of Brevard, and Linda Mills (Ray) of Etowah; grandchildren, Ashley Nicholson, Kyle Nicholson (Kimberly), Brandon Galloway (Leslie), Brittany (Jason) and Kimberly Nicholson, Samantha Lovin (Charlie), Amanda Palmer (David), Michael Nicholson (Jessica), Stephanie Melton, Wesley Jackson, and Tiffany Cavender; great-grandchildren, Emma Nicholson, Colt Nicholson, Koah Nicholson, Sage and Ansel Galloway, Jerry Melton, Brantley Lovin, Kimber Palmer, Abigail Bradshaw, Aaron Jackson, Bella Nicholson, Bryson Jackson, Riley Cavender, and Bentley Belue. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Friday, August 1, 2014 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Madden and Rev. Jeff Massey officiating. Burial will be in E. D. Owen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Patricia Galloway. Memorials may be made to the E. D.
