Robert Ward Davenport, Sr., age 90, was called home to his Lord on April 4, 2024, after a series of medical challenges over the last few years.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother Martha McIver, daughter Karen Lynn Davenport, and sister Wanda Hassell.
A member of Brevard Davidson River Presbyterian Church, Bob, as he was known, was born and raised in Plymouth, North Carolina, served in the US Army in France, and made his career in the pharmaceutical industry and for a period as a yacht broker in West Palm Beach, then Charleston, SC, before retiring in Brevard, NC.
He lived an active life in Florida and the Carolinas as an avid saltwater fisherman, competitive sailboat racer, tennis player and cyclist having excelled as a basketball player in high school and junior college.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Joyce, Bobby Jr. and his wife Mimi, grandson Clint Ward and son Howard Tank, his wife Kimberly and their children.
Bob and the family would like to thank the diligent care of Fallon Roberson and Sam Fuller over the last few years.
A private family service was held on April 10, 2024, at the Brevard Davidson River Presbyterian Church officiated by Reverend Dr. Keith Thompson.
