Robert L Galloway of Brevard, age 80, went to be with his heavenly Father on March 29, 2021, after suffering a stroke. He was born on April 22, 1940, to the late Charles and Margaret Barton Galloway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Galloway and sister, Norma Jean Parker. Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Charlotte Sentelle Galloway; son Duane Galloway and wife, Angela, of Salisbury NC; son Kenneth Galloway and wife, Kristina, of Arden, NC; and daughter Melinda Galloway Stinson and husband, Ben, of Rural Hall, NC. He was Paca and Grandpa to seven grandchildren who loved every moment they spent with him: Patton, Hannah, Dillin, Elliot, Robin, Seth, and Mikayla. Other survivors include a brother, Jim Galloway of Augusta, GA, and many special nieces and nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends. Robert graduated from Brevard High School in 1958 and attended Blanton's Business College in Asheville. He worked for McLean Trucking Company as a rate clerk in Winston-Salem, NC and Columbia and Charleston, SC. He was drafted into the army in 1963 and served two years in Tacoma, WA. After returning to Brevard, he married Charlotte at Pretty Place. He then worked at DuPont as a research technician for 27 years. After God, family, and friends, his two favorite things were cars and coffee. He was a member of Cherryfield Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, greeter, and was on several committees over the years. He was a member of two car clubs and loved taking his turbo-charged 1987 red Buick Grand National to "Cruise-ins". He loved spending time with family and friends, and he cherished his role as the family photographer and videographer, always documenting their special times together. To his friends, Robert was a good man with a welcoming smile and was an angel in times of need. To his children, he was the ideal father and role model. To his wife, he was her first and only love and perfect companion. All who knew him will miss him dearly. The graveside service for Robert will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, 994 Hendersonville Hwy., Pisgah Forest, NC 28768.
