Robert Alan McNiel, 55, passed away in his log cabin home in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, on December 9, 2024. Born on September 14, 1969, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Robert led a life marked by passion, dedication, and love for the people and places that shaped him.
Robert graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Arts in History. While pursuing his education, he served in the Army Reserves, exemplifying his commitment to service. For 15 years, Robert worked as an East Coast project manager for American Tower. In 1996, he moved to Brevard, North Carolina, where he found his true home among the mountains. He married Jody Patterson on March 14, 1998, at the English Chapel in Pisgah National Forest. They had two beautiful children Mackenzie Reed McNiel, 27, and Robert Scott McNiel, 22.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lucy Karen McMenis and Michael McNiel; his brother Michael Bryan McNiel; and other loved ones who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
