Born into this life on January 13th, 1931 and born into eternal life on June 7th, 2010. Bob was preceded in death by his father Thomas Emmett O'Neill, his mother, Mary McDermott O'Neill and his older brother Emmett O'Neill. He is survived by his brother John O'Neill of River Forest, IL, and his sister Maureen O'Neill Crawford of Ft. Myers Beach, Florida.
Bob is also survived by his lifelong friend and wife of 58 years, Patricia O'Day O'Neill, his daughter, Colleen O'Neill McFeeter (husband Robert), and sons Robert Jr. (wife Peggy), Kevin, and Michael (wife Mary). He was also blessed with and is survived by five loving grandchildren, Erin O'Neill Saewert (husband Jake), Kelly Ann O'Neill, Clare, O'Neill, Matthew O'Neill, and Sarah O'Neill.
Born in Oak Park, IL, Bob spent most of his early life in Chicagoland before attending John Carroll College and then going on to serve his country with the 509th Airborne unit in Roswell, NM. After his service he embarked on a successful career in the automobile business managing numerous Cadillac dealerships over several decades and winning a variety of General Motors sales awards.
Bob and Pat raised their family in Park Ridge, IL and then Twin Lakes, WI, where they developed and enjoyed countless friendships that are still very strong. They moved to Boca Raton, FL, in 1980 and then to their present home in Brevard, NC, in 1995 where they have continued to be blessed by friendships that have played such a wonderful role in their lives.
Bob and Pat have enjoyed overseas trips throughout the world visiting Hong Kong, Thailand, and Australia to name a few. Bob was also a lifelong sports enthusiast and enjoyed Notre Dame Football with a passion. In recent years, Bob was active in organizing several Sharing House Charity Golf events to raise funds and he and Patricia are members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him; however, he has left countless memories that will be cherished forever.
A service will be held in River Forest, IL, at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either Sharing House, or TRH Hospice of Brevard, NC.
