Obituary

R. Clyde Wheeler Jr., 91 of Pisgah Forest passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013. He was the son of the late Rollin Clyde and Burba Pratt Wheeler. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Ann Woods, brother; Richard Wheeler and sisters; Virginia Bud and Eleanor Morse. Mr. Wheeler retired from AIL Eaton Corporation in 1984. Clyde loved Transylvania County and often said he lived in God's country. For 22 years he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brevard where he was honored to sing in the choir. He also sang in the Little River Baptist Church Choir that visited nursing homes in Brevard. Clyde was a member of the Brevard Lions Club, many hiking clubs and enjoyed walking with his many dogs over the years. Mr. Wheeler was a loving, cheerful, quiet man who helped care for his Mother-in-law Mary Leavy. He will be missed for his smile, his singing, honesty, and all of his wonderful traits. During the past four years he attended the Koala Day Care Center for adults. The Wheeler family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Koala for the wonderful love and care shown to Clyde. Survivors include his wife Jeannette Leavy Wheeler; step sons, Douglas, George and Kevin Owens; daughters-in-law; Robyn, Jackie, and Pam, granddaughter; Bonnie Meyers, step grandchildren; Darren, Sarah, Amber, Emily, David, Casey and Corina.
