Brevard – Ronald Marsh Penland, 71, died Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. He was born on April 11, 1939 in Asheville, NC to Glenn and Faye Penland. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers, Stephen and Gary. Mr. Penland was veteran of the U.S. Army and he retired from Ecusta after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church where he was a choir member for 40 years. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Virginia Price Penland; sisters, Gail Moody of Waynesville and Glenda Shook of Candler; brothers, Adrian Penland of Candler, Philip Penland of Skyland, and David Penland of Candler; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen Easter officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Transylvania County Veterans. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
