Rosie Stamey Owen Brevard – Rosie Stamey Owen, 89, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Kingsbridge House. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Sallie McCall Stamey and was the wife of the late Burt Monroe Owen. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Newton, and two sons, Girtha Owen and James Allen Owen. Mrs. Owen was a member of the Affirmative Word Tabernacle. Surviving are her daughters, Gladys Daves of Brevard, Evalina Liner of Blue Ridge, SC, Elvina Morgan of Lake Toxaway, Lila Galloway and Diane Stamey both of Brevard, June Moore of Laurens, SC, and Matilda Burleson of Brevard; son, Strowder Owen of Brevard; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday in the Chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Revs. Troy Stamey and Randy Stamey officiating. Burial will be in Cathey's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
