IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy Allen
Galloway
September 27, 1937 – January 31, 2025
Roy Allen Galloway, age 87, a native of Transylvania County, was healed and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31st, 2025.
Roy will be remembered for many things, an adoring son, wonderful husband, proud daddy, paw and big pop.
He was generous to a fault and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was a homebody who loved to work outside. Whether it was mowing grass in the summer, burning brush and leaves in the fall, or chopping wood for the winter, they brought him joy and exercise.
He loved to see people eat who visited and always tried to see to it you never left hungry. Sneaking chocolate to the great grands was also a favorite pastime as well as watching his Tar Heels.
The most used descriptions we've heard from others about our daddy have been, "He was a good, good man" and "If you couldn't get along with Roy Galloway then something was wrong with you."
He will be sorely missed. Our hearts are broken but we are comforted by knowing we will see him again.
Preceding him in death were his parents, JC and Elizabeth Galloway, his wife, Alberta Galloway, his grandson, Ryan Franks, and his sister, Shirley Petit and brother in laws, Charles Petit and Billy Schmidt.
He is survived by his children, Ronnie (Jeanie) Galloway, Vickie (Joey) Franks, Kelley (Maxine) Galloway, Laurie (Keith) Mullenax; his grandchildren, Josh (Meredith) Galloway, Derek Galloway, Mason (Jaya) Galloway, Kyle Mullenax, Dustin (Davis Clare) Mullenax, Brody Mullenax, Kristy (Bubba) Pressley, Keri (Jason) Wilson, Kate Hoxit. He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers; Keith (Carolyn) Galloway, Lynne (Karen) Galloway, his sister, Sandra Schmidt and his sister-in-law; Darlene Mullins, along with many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to celebrate Roy's life will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, at Montvale Whitewater Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Chester Chappell will officiate.
The family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice for their support and guidance during dad's short time in hospice.
