Pisgah Forest – Ruby Owenby Hoxit, 88, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Monroe and Ida Fowler Owenby and was the wife of the late John Hoxit. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lessie McGuire, Estelle Frady, and Lenore Parker, and her brothers, Ed, Charlie, Bill, Henry, and Fred Owenby. Mrs. Hoxit was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Marie Sitton and husband Henry of Brevard; son, Jim Hoxit of Boiling Springs, SC; grandchildren, Annette Shipman and husband Dwayne, Angela Scott and husband Curtis, Denise Moody and husband Monty, Gretchen Holden and husband Bobby, and Eric Hoxit; great grandchildren, Zane Shipman, Paul Scott, Dylan Moody, Ryan Holden, Katharine Scott, and Hannah Moody; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Monday in the Chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Madden officiating. Burial will be in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 pm Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
