Ruth Beaschler, 102, passed away peacefully at Elizabeth House on Jan. 23, 2015.
She was born in Weston, Ohio to the late Charles and Anna Fairbanks. She was also preceded in death by first husband Raymond Schultz and second husband Charles Beaschler, as well as son Terrence Schultz and grandson Randall Barnes.
She is survived by daughter Carol Weinhofer (husband Harry) of Pisgah Forest; daughter Pat Hilbrink (husband Bill) of Fairfax, Virginia; granddaughter Holly Jorgensen of Evergreen, Colorado; grandson Mark Hilbrink (wife Marcie) of Cary, Illinois; grandson Tim Barnes (wife Allison) of Durham, North Carolina; and four great granddaughters.
She was a descendent of the Fairbanks family, one of whom settled Fairbanks, Alaska; another who was Vice President under Theodore Roosevelt; and another who invented the Fairbanks/Morse scale and refrigerator.
She was trained as a secretary and worked many jobs as such in Ohio and Virginia. Her interests included travelling world-wide, reading poetry, cooking gourmet meals, playing bridge, and emailing friends on her computer.
She was a member of the Daughters of American Colonists, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Eastern Star.
She will always be remembered for her radiant smile; calm nature; quick wit; inspiring wisdom; sense of integrity; and deep devotion to family, always sacrificing her needs for that of family members.
The family wishes to express its deep appreciation to the staff at Elizabeth House, who provided wonderful professional and loving care to her during her last months.

A memorial service and burial will be in Fairfax, Virginia at a later date.
