Ruth Cech departed this world to live in paradise with Christ Jesus on January 31, 2020. Ruth was born in Chicago, IL on December 9, 1931. She lived in Florida for 21 years and was a resident of Transylvania County for over 50 years. Her parents died in 1978 and her five older brothers preceded her in death. Ruth and her business partner owned and operated The Red Barn Gift and Coffee Shop in Lake Toxaway from 1970 through October of 1986 (most recently, the Lake Toxaway Pharmacy). She was the Organist and Choir Director at the Lake Toxaway Baptist Church for eight years; the Organist and Choir Director at Cashiers Methodist Church; Organist at Lake Toxaway United Methodist Church and Organist and Worship Coordinator at St. Andrews By-the-Lake Outdoor Chapel in Lake Toxaway. Ruth was an amateur photographer and loved to play croquet. Her memorial service will be on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2 PM at the Lake Toxaway United Methodist Church on Cold Mountain Rd.
