Ruth L. Owen, 86, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Brian Center, Brevard. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Owen and Judia Galloway Owen and was the wife of the late William Frank Owen. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ella Owen Stamey, and three brothers, Earl, Roland and Hobert Owen. Survivors include one son, Odell Owen and wife Margaret of Balsam Grove; one daughter, Mary Hightower and husband Everett of Balsam Grove; five sisters, Lucy Singleton and Alma Simmons both of Balsam Grove, Bea Holden of Brevard; Molly Hogsed of Lake Toxaway, and Linda Kinley of Dallas, NC; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 19, 2010 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Tommy Owen and Devon Owen officiating. Burial will follow in the Shoal Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Sunday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
