Ruth Owens, age 75 of Brevard, died Saturday January 15, 2011 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville. She was born July 25, 1935 in Transylvania Co. to the late Auther William Cooper and Cora McCrary Cooper. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy C. Owens, five brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Owens was retired owner and operator of 1 Hour Martinizing Cleaners and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was employed at Transylvania Regional Hospital, former resident manager at Brevard Motor Lodge, and Quick Way. Survivors include one son ; Carroll Owens and his wife Deborah of Crouse, NC., two sisters; Mrs. Mary Smith and Mrs. Paula McCall both of Brevard, two grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her extended family the Brevard Police Department. We also must not forget her beloved cat, Teddy. Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 18, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Pisgah Gardens, The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday
