IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sheila
Veatch
January 10, 1950 – November 16, 2024
Sheila Williamson Veatch, born in 1950, revered as kind, generous and exuding positivity, passed away on November 16, 2024. She was known for her warmth, hospitality, and loving heart for family and friends.
Sheila was born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to Joan Williamson and William Barse. She grew up in the Atlanta area with her mother and stepfather, George Williamson. Sheila graduated from North Fulton High School and then attended the University of Georgia where she received her degree in education.
After continuing in education, she became a school counselor. She retired from Cobb county school system in 2004.
Sheila will be lovingly remembered by her husband of over 30 years, Michael Veatch. They reunited at their 25th high school reunion and married shortly after. Her children Mike Pitts (Teila) and Katie Jackson (Parker Platt) shared wonderful memories together and considered Sheila an excellent mother and friend. Sheila's four grandchildren fondly referred to her as "Mema". Maddie Jackson, Marley Jackson, Will Pitts, and Drew Pitts will miss her so much. Sheila's best friend was her sister, Sheryl Sims (Steve). She will also be missed greatly by her two other sisters, Deborah Cruz and Beckie Chenoweth.
To know Sheila was to love her. She delighted in hosting friends in her home for a meal, gathering with neighbors for regular get togethers and holiday celebrations, and was always thinking of others and how to do something kind to make their day better.
Sheila had a deep passion for animals. Michael and Sheila lived on "Happy Horse Farm" for 15 years. There she invested in their animals and cared for them like family. You could often find her with a beloved cat curled up in her lap. Meara was Sheila's favorite horse and they had many beautiful memories together. Her current partner in daily routine was her dog, Sammy. He loved Sheila dearly and he brought her such great joy.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Those wishing to pay respects and celebrate her life will be welcomed to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Sheila's favorite charities, Charlie's Angels and Cindy Platt Boys and Girls Club.
Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity. She'd want us to continue to love others above ourselves and look for ways to make people smile.
