Brevard - Sherrill (Babaw) Hubbard, 89, died October 6, 2022 at his residence, after a battle with dementia.
He was born October 8, 1932 in Brevard, the son of the late Clyde and Rutha Reese Hubbard.
Sherrill graduated from Rosman High School, class of 1953. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Army at Fort Jackson, S.C. Sherrill married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Louetta Hooper. They celebrated 68 years of marriage on February 12, 2022.
Surviving in addition to his wife Louetta (Hooper) Hubbard are his son, Jeffrey and wife Gerenna of Brevard, his daughter Angela Woodson and husband Steve of Brevard. Grandchildren, Stephanie Payne (Cory) of Fletcher, Kayde Newman (Brandon) of Rosman, Tyrel Woodring (Jennifer) of Fairplay, SC and Brad Woodson (Christy) of Pisgah Forest, great-grandchildren, Greyson and Thayer Payne, Alden and Lyra Joe Newman, Clay and Chase Woodring and Austin and Cole Woodson, great-great grandchild, L.J. Woodson, brother, Milford Hubbard and wife Helen, In-laws, Jean Hooper, Sue Hooper, Charles Thomas, Paulette Gasperson (Larry) and Kevin Hooper (Diane), and many nieces and nephews.
Sherrill was one of the kindest souls on the face of the planet. He was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed. He was a man of strong faith and taught his family the importance of faith, hardwork and doing what was right. Sherrill was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others and was a loyal servant to God. Now that Sherrill has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of his physical life on earth, it's the beginning of a beautiful journey in eternal life for Sherrill.
Sherrill was born into this physical life on Saturday, October 8, 1932 and we will return his physical body to the earth from whence it came on Saturday, October 8, 2022 with a graveside service at 3:00 PM at Big Hill Cemetery, East Fork Road, Brevard, NC. Those who wish to remember Sherrill, we ask that donations in his memory be made to the The Shriners Hospital, Greenville, SC, or the Baptist Children's Home, Clyde, NC or the Masonic Home for Children, Oxford, NC.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
