Shirley Eldridge, 80, of Brevard, passed away Sunday December 12, after an extended period of declining health. Born June 8, 1941, she was Lewis and Edna Bumgarner Pressley's first child. She grew up in the Cedar Creek Farming Community Of Glenville, NC. She graduated Glenville High School, Gardener Webb University, Western Carolina Teacher's College and proudly taught Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Grades over a 31 year period at Brevard Elementary from 1963-1994. She was formerly married to Carl Eldridge for 29 years, with whom she had one son, Ed. In addition to her son, Ed, she is survived by her loving granddaughter, Adrianna; brothers Scott (Nancy) Pressley, Robert (Cathrine) Pressley; niece Jennifer (Greg) Pressley; nephews, Jody (Amy) Pressley, Cory Pressley, Lyle (Kendra) Pressley; four great nieces and one great nephew. She dearly loved and was loved by all of her family. She enjoyed art, community, crossword puzzles, flowers, close friendships, music, reading and traveling. A celebration of her life will be held in the Moody Connolly Chapel Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 3 PM.
