Obituary

Sophia Frances Ruggieri, of Dacula, GA, passed on November 18, 2023 at the age of 23, due to complications from Type 1 Diabetes.

A recent graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Communications, Sophia was preparing to embark on her career.  All who were blessed to know Sophia were touched by her infectious free spirit.  She greeted everyone with a smile and a hug, and she looked for the best in every person and in every situation.  She will be remembered for her tremendous heart for animals, her love of nature and music, and for her deep passion for justice and equality.  Sophia never complained about her illness, and she fought until she could fight no more.  Her family and friends love her beyond description, and will fill the loss with laughter and sweet memories of their Little P.  She made us better.

Sophia is predeceased by her sister, Angel.  She is survived by her parents, Frank and Neisha (Chappell) Ruggieri; sisters Alexa Ruggieri (Will Clayton) of Greenville, SC, and Nicole Ruggieri of Atlanta, GA; nephews Liam and Noah Clayton, also of Greenville; Godparents Mark and Debbie Correll of Flowery Branch, GA; and her beloved dachshund, Koda.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Friday, December 1, 2023 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor and on behalf of Dawgs for Diabetes Awareness to Camp Kudzu at: Tribute Donations - Camp Kudzu (https://www.campkudzu.org/give/tribute/)
