Brevard – Charles Stanley "Stan" Whitley, 52, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016. A native of Durham, NC, he was the son of Barbara Lowder Whitley of Pisgah Forest and the late Charles Boyd Whitley, Jr. Stan was a 1981 graduate of Albemarle High School and he was employed by Transylvania Vocational Services and was a member of Brevard Wesleyan Church. He was an avid sports fan, especially the UNC Tar Heels. Stan loved family gatherings and visiting people in and around the community. Surviving in addition to his mother are his sister, Toni Gant and husband Randall of Pisgah Forest; brother, Jeff Whitley and wife Sharon of Charlotte; nieces, Brooke Mulenex, Lauren and Kaitlyn Whitley, Randi Searcy; nephew, Christopher Mulenex; great niece, Rylnn Alejo; great nephew, Everett Searcy. The memorial service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Brevard Wesleyan Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 PM Thursday at the church. A private family burial will be held at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Brevard Wesleyan Church or to one's favorite charity.
