Stanley Hubert Jones, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Stanley was a very caring and giving person. His smile was warm and inviting, just like he was. He made those around him feel loved and special.

Being only 13 when his father passed away, he went to work to help his mom and his younger siblings. Stanley learned his strong work ethic from his parents and honored his mother as long as she lived. Stanley fell in love and married his wife of 61 years, Pauline Owen Jones. He was a loving and caring husband and father, and would walk to work in those days to provide for his family; never complaining, just making the best of the situation. He was overjoyed when he became a dad, and together he and Pauline raised five children. Being a carpenter, he took his kids to work with him and taught them his work ethic as well as his trade. As his children grew up and married, he remained close to them and was always there to help with anything they needed.

As Stanley became a Papaw, he doted on each grandchild and great grandchild as they came along. Each one has their own special memories of the time they spent together and how special he made them feel. Each one felt like they were his favorite. Stanley loved having animals and built a small farm. He raised horses, cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, lots of rabbits, and anything else he could get. His favorite were his chickens, and he owned every breed you can think of. When he went to sales, you never knew what he would come home with. Stanley also grew a huge garden. He enjoyed working his garden with his wife and together they preserved their harvest.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Harrison Jones and Mary Laura Owen Jones; three brothers, Bert, Charley, and Broudus; and three sisters, Jean, Patricia, and Berdelle. He leaves behind one brother, Brandon (Kay); one sister, Martha (Bill); his wife of 61 years, Pauline Owen Jones; five children, Ben, Coy, Edith, Henry, and Ivana; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Stanley would help anyone and never expect anything in return. He gave and loved until his last breath. Surrounded by family, he made his journey into Heaven and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be at 1 pm, Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home, with funeral services at 2 PM. Interment will follow immediately at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
