Steven Lee Jones, 36, died Sunday evening after a tragic automobile accident in South Carolina in which he was a passenger. Steve is survived by loving parents Janet and Christopher Jones, of Brevard , devoted sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Rob Murr and their two sons, Grayson and Jackson, of Matthews North Carolina, his grandmother, two aunts, uncle, and seven cousins living in England. Steve was born in Greece and after spending some of his childhood in England he moved to Brevard with his family. Steve was a graduate of Brevard High School where he played on the soccer and golf teams. He was a graduate of UNC at Charlotte. He was employed as a Work Force Manager with Vanguard Securities in Charlotte. Steve loved to travel, but most weekends would find him back in Brevard 'with his dog, Sofie, where they would hike in Pisgah Forest. Steve was an avid sports enthusiast and a life-long fan of Luton Town Soccer Club in England. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2012 at English Chapel. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations made to the future Transylvania Animal Shelter fund, Friends of the Animal Shelter, 31 S. Broad St., Brevard, NC 28712, which Steve wished to become a reality.
