Toxaway – Master Sgt. (Ret.) Steven Kropelnicki, 89, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Orleans, MN, he was the son of the late Charles Vasil Kropelnicki and Mary Mickety Kropelnicki. He was a retired Master Sgt. from the U.S. Air Force serving in World War II and Korea, and was a member of the Brevard Wesleyan Church. Surviving are his wife, Winnie Owen Kropelnicki of the home; sons, Steven Kropelnicki of Asheville, and James Owen and wife Tomoko of Toxaway; grandchildren, Douglas, Jeff, and Stefanie; great-grandchildren, Melinda, Chris, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Matthew, and Gabriel; several brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Brevard Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Hank Moffitt and Morris Davis officiating. Burial will be in Owen Family Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Transylvania County Veterans. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Friday at the Brevard Wesleyan Church. Memorials may be made to the Brevard Wesleyan Church.
