Brevard - Strowder (S.R.) Owen, age 73, passed away September 3, 2026. at his home.

 He was born August 14, 1953 in Transylvania County to the late Bert and Rosie Owen. He was an Auto Mechanic and had an Auto Salvage for 55 years. 

He was a collector of antique cars and made his living doing exactly what he loved. A legendary racecar driver who also built many race cars for friends, while he was resting (as he would say). He had a big heart and would help anyone he could. If he liked you, he liked you, if he didn’t you knew it! 

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by two brothers, Gertha and Alan Owen, four sisters, Evalina, Gladys, Connie and Elvina. And one grandson Gage Guffey. 

He is survived by his wife Vickie Lynn White, children, Rose, Samantha and Robert, grandchildren, Brooklyn, Mason, Canaan and Chloe, and many other family and friends that will miss him and the laughs he brought to every room with the many stories he loved to share about his life and adventures. 

There will be a Celebration of Life at Affirmative Word Tabernacle on Calvert Rd, Brevard NC Saturday, September 12, 2026 visitation will be at 1:00pm and service at 2:00pm. All are welcome. Come celebrate the extraordinary life of “The Wild Man.” If you knew him we know you have stories to tell!
