Brevard - Troy Cecil Owen, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, October 27, 2025.
He was born September 22, 1941 in Brevard, NC to the late Troy and Lillie Mae Owen. Cecil was a lifelong native of Transylvania County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Nancy Owen, brother Donald Owen, and former son-in-law Michael McGee.
Left to cherish his memory include his one daughter, Angie McGee-Bryson Jeff, of Brevard; one son, Brandon Brooke Owen, of Charlotte; two granddaughters, Megan McGee Justin Hoots, of Hendersonville, and Lauren McGee; step-granddaughter Keri Brandon Holden; along with four precious great-grandsons, Finnley and Owen Hoots, Brayden and Bryson Holden; and a precious great-granddaughter Riverlee Holden; sisters Patricia Ann Ben Galloway, Barbara Whitmire, Marcella Pope, Lucille Roger Gillespie and Nancy Robert Crane; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other family members who loved him dearly. Also, a special thank you to our friend and his devoted caregiver Angela Ogle.
Cecil was a graduate of Brevard High School class of 1961. For his entire career he worked at Olin/Ecusta for 41 years in paper refining. After retirement he worked as a framer at The Gallery on Main here in Brevard and Ingles in the produce department. He really enjoyed hunting and fishing until he was no longer able to. Cecil will always be remembered for his kind sweet spirit.
He was a loving husband, father, Papa, and Pops to his family. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for many years. His greatest joys were his precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spending time with his family whom he loved dearly. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
Services will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 10 W. Holden Road, in Brevard, Saturday, November 1, 2025. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. followed by services at 12 p.m. and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Brevard. Revs. Michael Childers and James Webb will officiate.
