Vernon Hoxit, age 77, passed away at his home in Hendersonville, NC on October 23, 2012. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Burgess and Emily Anders Hoxit, brothers, Jerry and Rothie Hoxit, and brothers-in-law Frank Norris and James Owens. He is survived by his son, Larry V. Hoxit, sisters Betty H. Norris, Verda Hoxit and Barbara H. Owens, and brother Verlon and wife, Mary Anne Hoxit all of Hendersonville, NC, grandsons Eric C. Hoxit of Morrisville, NC and Mark A. and Sarah Hoxit of East Windsor, NJ, great grandson, Quinn James Hoxit, as well as a great number of nieces and nephews. Vernon served his country honorably with two tours of duty in the Army. He proudly served Texas City, Texas Fire Department, and retired following 20 years service. Vernon loved to cook, especially on the grill. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, riding his tractor and lawnmower, classic country and gospel music. He always enjoyed visits from family and friends. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012, from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home, in Brevard, NC. Graveside services will follow at the family cemetery on Holly Springs Church Road (Crab Creek Community) Hendersonville, NC.
