Virginia Ann Bagwell Stamey
Lake Toxaway – Virginia Ann Bagwell Stamey, 72, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
Ann was a native of Transylvania County. She was born on September 12, 1942 to the late Augustus L. and Beulah Reid Bagwell. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Reid and Lane Bagwell.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the former director, organist and served in various other positions in the church. She led Transylvania Baptist Association's Womens Missionary Union for many years as well as served on the NC WMU Executive Board. She was dedicated to and enjoyed her church life. She dearly loved her church family and friends.
She enjoyed a long career as an Administrator with government contractors at the NASA Tracking Station in Rosman and Washington DC areas before retiring from Honeywell in 2002. Prior to government contracting, she served Transylvania County as Deputy and assistant Clerk of the Superior Court.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, J. C. Stamey; one son, Jonathan Stamey and wife Dawn; two grandsons; Jordan and Bryan; three step-grandchildren, Armani, Justyce and Alex; sister in law, Judy Bagwell and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held 2pm, Friday, July 4, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Allen Thompson and Dr. Gordon H. Benton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 133 Osborne Road, Brevard, NC 28712.
