Brevard – Virginia Leatherwood Stephenson, 84, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Macon County on November 9, 1927 to the late John and Bonnie Leatherwood. She moved to Transylvania County as a teenager with her family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stephenson, three sisters, one brother, and one granddaughter. Surviving are her five children, Paul Stephenson, Jr. of Colorado, Donald J. Stephenson, Jack G. Stephenson, Kay London, and Linda M. Stephenson all of Transylvania County; sister, Judy Orr; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Owen officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 pm Monday at the funeral home.
