September 8, 1928 – November 6, 2025
Voight Earl Boley, born September 8, 1928, went to be with The Master on November 6, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Transylvania County and master tradesman in Woodworking for over 60 years. He is survived by Altha Mae, his wife of 68 year; his sons, Steve (Karen) currently of Moncks Corner, SC and Craig (Shayne) of Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren, Bridgette (Chris) Whitlock of Brevard, NC, Steven Blake (Kristen) of Hendersonville, NC, Isaac of N. Charleston, SC, Craig Lamar (Amy) of LaFollette, TN, and Kyle (Hailey) of Douglass, KS. He has three great grandchildren in NC, two in TN and three in KS. He is also survived by his oldest sister Mildred Woods of Little Canada in Jackson County, NC; his sister Freda Case of Hendersonville, NC and his brother Keith Boley of Brevard, NC
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Arkie and Earnest Boley of Balsam Grove, NC and an older brother Powell Boley, MIA in WWII, and Memphis, a great granddaughter of Douglass, KS.
Voight Earl spent four years in the Navy, based in Hawaii, immediately following WWII. He concluded his Military Career as a member of the Reserves, serving for an additional seven years. Voight Earl, also known as "Shorty," was a member for many years at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and always called Jesus "The Master." He resided most of last year at the Cedar Mountain House with his Bride Altha. He was admitted to the Asheville VA Hospice when his body finally succumbed to the ravages of old age. At the of 97 he went peacefully in his sleep to sit at the feet of his Master. He was sent home to his Heavenly Father with Taps.
There will be a Memorial Service to Honor his life and legacy at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 5:00pm. The family would ask that you make a donation to Oak Grove Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
