Vondell Henry Massingale, 66, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at his residence. A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Spurgeon and Bessie Dills Massingale. He is survived by his love of 19 years, Darlene; five daughters, Lavonda Gilliam and husband Carroll and Cheronda Jones and husband Danny all of Hendersonville; Heather Massingale of Taylors, SC, Erica Rader and husband Bobby of Pisgah Forest, and De De Connolly and husband Chris of Easley, SC; four sisters, Alma McCall of Pisgah Forest, Willamae McCall of Mills River, Louise Gravely of Pisgah Forest, and Ruby Fisher of Hendersonville; one brother, Spurgeon Massingale, Jr. of Mills River, 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 6, 2010 in the Chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Barton officiating. Burial will be in Dunn's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
