Weldon Percy Bartlett age 84, of Brevard died Saturday May 5, 2012 at The Oaks of Brevard. He was born May 4, 1926 in Oxford County Maine to the late Percy and Eva Locke Bartlett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elva Smith Bartlett. He was veteran of the U.S. Army serving in medical corps at Walter Reed General Hospital, West Point Academy; he also served in Okinawa and Korea during the Korean War. Mr. Bartlett loved his girls, motorcycles, old cars and the animals on his farm in Maine. He and his wife were House Parents for several non-profit organizations including Georgia Baptist Children's Home, The Boy's Estate in Brunswick GA. and the John De La Howe School in McCormick SC. Survivors include three daughters; Kim Bartlett-Bloomer of Jacksonville Fl., LaVonda Blackwell of Brevard and Cynthia Valentine of Jacksonville Fl. one granddaughter; Elizabeth Galloway of Brevard, one great grandson; Jason Lee McCall of Brevard. One niece; Janice Merrill of Maine, two nephews; Dana and Michael Bartlett of Maine and one cousin; Hank Holmes of Fayetteville NC. Graveside services were held at 12:00noon Monday May 7, 2012 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Spring Hill NC conducted by Rev. Alan Thompson.
