Brevard – William "Bill" Lyday Osteen, 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015.
He was the son of the late Thomas Zachary and Sallie Owens Osteen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tom, Joe and Phillip Osteen and a sister, Sallie Edwards.
Bill proudly served his country during WWII in the Coast Guard. He attended Grace Baptist Church. He was the President of youth football in Transylvania County. He was a pilot for 70 years. He founded the Civil Air Patrol Chapter of Transylvania County and founded the Brevard Airport. He remained an aircraft owner until 2008.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Imogene Owen Osteen; sons, Mark William Osteen and wife Lisa of Pisgah Forest, Anthony "Keith" Osteen and wife Pat of Brevard and Richmond "Scott" Osteen and wife Nekki of Hendersonville, two sisters, Blanche Barton and Agnes Smith, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 2pm, Friday, February 13, 2015 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Owen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory.
