Tuckasegee - William Roland McCall, age 89, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 22, surrounded by his loving family. Roland was born December 3, 1925 to the late Lonnie and Dora Dunn McCall. He is processed in death by his loving wife, Pearlene Hoxit McCall of 50 years, and a cherished granddaughter Desiree Otter. He was a lifelong native resident of Jackson County and worked for the United States Forestry Service for 42 years. He dearly loved the Blue Ridge Mountains and enjoyed hiking, hunting and fishing. He was the founder of the Pinhook Valley Campground and enjoyed many wonderful years there. Roland is survived by his seven children. Lowee Joyal, husband Tom Joyal of Hendersonville, Maybelle Edwards, husband Dennis Edwards, of Etowah, Shirley McCall, O'Neal McCall, Arnold McCall, Judy Anders, husband Andy Anders, and Vickie Owensby, husband Hayden Owensby all of Tuckasegee, NC. 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Mauney, Tai Rhodarmer, Kevin Edwards, Walker McCall, Amanda Connor, Vaughanda McCall, Jessica Mathis, LC Anders III, Kain Owensby, and Keely Owensby; 15 great grandchildren, Blain and Colby Rhodarmer ,Quinton and Brooke Mauney, Chastity and Kylie McCall, Adrian Nelle, Destiny and Patience Weikle, Katlin and Krissy Connor, Stetson and Levi Anders, Alexis and Hunter Connor. Three siblings including one sister, Zeller Galloway of Locust Grove GA., two brothers, Eugene McCall of Lima, OH., and Hoyt McCall of Easley, SC. Our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be held at Moody-Connolly Funeral home Tuesday, August 25th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
