William Calvin "Bear" Tinsley, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Mr. Tinsley was born on February 4, 1935 in Transylvania Co., NC to the late Carlos A. Tinsley and Lucille Brown Tinsley. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Holden Tinsley, his second wife, Shirley Galloway Tinsley, and two brothers, Gene and Floyd Tinsley. He served with the Brevard Fire Department for 40 years, drove a wrecker for K&M wrecker service and was employed by Bridges Oil Co. for many years. Mr. Tinsley enjoyed fishing and boating on the French Broad River. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Joy Murr and husband Toney of Brevard; two sons, Robert Tinsley and wife Linda of Brevard, and David Galloway and wife Tiffany of Pisgah Forest; one sister, Frances Davis and husband Norris of New Tazwell, TN; three grandchildren, William Murr, Iris Parker and husband Josh, and Bryson Tinsley; three great-grandchildren, Ernie, Hailey, and J.J. A private graveside service will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the benevolence fund at Grace Baptist Church.
