Tony D. Dotson, 80, of Brevard, NC left his earthly home for his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 30th. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Miriam Dotson; son Kirk and his wife, Stacie; and grandsons Clay and Cam; his brother Don of Asheville; special nephews Bill, Ernie, and Gary Dotson; sisters-in-law Marguerite Marsh of Etowah and Lois Heun of Millspring, NC; and brother-in-law, Jess Sullins of Oxford, NC.
Tony is preceded in death by his son, Jeff; parents Charlie and Annie Mae Dotson; brothers Wintford, Jim, Crawford, Thad, Dwight, Santford, Ed, and Dal Dotson; and sisters Zelda Sales and Mary Weess.
Tony, born on March 22, 1938, was a member of the first graduating class of AC Reynolds High School. He grew up and was baptized in the Gashes Creek Baptist Church in Asheville. He became a member of First Baptist Church of Brevard on April 29, 1962 where he served as a deacon, chairman of deacon board, Sunday morning prayer group member, personnel committee member and chair, and as an usher during his 46 years there. Working at Brevard Insurance Agency from June 1, 1972 until his retirement on July 31, 1998, Tony spent his life in the support of others. First through his work in the church, then through the Brevard Blue Devil Club, Brevard College supporter, and Rosman High School athletics.
He loved spoiling his grandsons, playing golf, working in the yard, vacationing in Hilton Head with family and friends, but nothing made him happier that watching his son and his grandsons play baseball. He enjoyed watching and talking about the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR. He treasured the fellowship of his Henry's and Bojangles Breakfast Club. He loved music and played guitar for many including Gail McCarty and Al Plemmons.
He was a true servant of God, of his family, and the local community which he loved.
