Lucy Mae Owen Singleton

Lucy Mae Owen Singleton, 85, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, which would have been her and her late husband’s 67th wedding anniversary.
A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Judy Galloway Owen and was the wife of the late James Everett Singleton. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Godwin a son, Timothy Singleton, and brothers, Hobert and Roland Owen and sister, Ruth Owen.
Mrs. Singleton was a member of Woods Memorial Baptist Church. She was the 1994 Transylvania County Employee of the Year and she was formerly the Meal Site Director for Balsam Grove and Rosman with Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are her daughters, Shirley Raines and husband Rev. Paul Raines, Christine Galloway and husband Criss, Bonnie Miller, Teresa Singleton; sons, James Singleton, Jr. and wife Marcia, Sam Singleton and wife Sheila, Joey Singleton and wife Wanda; sisters, Bea Holden, Alma Simmons and husband Rev. Mack Simmons, Molly Hogsed and husband, A. C., Linda Kinley; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Devon Owen and Rev. Paul Raines officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
