Obituary for Opal Dodgin Whitmire (Dodgin)

Brevard – Opal D. Whitmire, 96, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the Brian Center, Brevard, NC.
Mrs. Whitmire was the daughter of the late James Dodgin and Lesa Dodgin Loving and was the wife of the late Clarence Whitmire. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Dodgin, and son, Dillard Whitmire.
Mrs. Whitmire was an active member of Grace Baptist Church. She was loved by all.
Surviving are her daughter, Betty W. Gunter (Jack); daughter-in-law, Barbara C. Whitmire; grandchildren, Eddie Gunter (Rhonda), Debbie Hogsed (Josh), Sam Gunter (Penny), Janet Lowe (Scott), Michael Whitmire (Veronica), great-grandchildren, Nicole Gunter, Jonathan Gunter, Katilyn Hogsed, Carlee and Kaylee Lowe, Sully Smith, Sidney Pressley; great-great grandchildren, Mason Bell and Sadie Pressley; sister, Lillian Chapman; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Duncan officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake Toxaway.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
