Obituary for Jean Call Eckhardt

Jean Call Eckhardt passed away in her home at the Rice Estates in Columbia, South Carolina on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the age of 95.
Mrs. Eckhardt was born on August 28, 1919 in Niagara Falls, New York. She was a graduate of William Smith College.
Prior to marriage, Mrs. Eckhardt worked as an accountant, then devoted her life to being a wife, mother and homemaker. Jean and Norm Eckhardt were previous owners of The Red Door Restaurant in Sapphire, North Carolina, and were active members of the Davidson River Presbyterian Church in Brevard, North Carolina. During their retirement years, Jean and Norm lived at College Walk Retirement Community.
Mrs. Eckhardt was predeceased in death by her husband of 64 years, Norman W. Eckhardt, a brother Leroy John Call, Jr. and her parents Leroy John Call and Hattie Kurth Call. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Norman Wilbur Eckhardt, Jr. and wife Patti, Carl John Eckhardt and wife Anita, and Laura A. E. Colaninno and husband Andy. Mrs. Eckhardt had five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at the Forest Lake Presbyterian Church on June 6, 2015 at ten o’clock in the morning. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mrs. Eckhardt’s life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetes Association.
