Obituary for Gary Ray "Garbo" Browning
Brevard – Gary Ray “Garbo” Browning, age 70, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018.
He was born on August 13, 1947 in Sylva, NC to the late William Clarence Browning and Mildred Blanche Hall Browning. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Barry Lee Browning and Larry Dean Browning.
Gary was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving from 1967-1969 with the 101st Airborne in Vietnam. He was retired from DuPont/Agfa after 33 years of employment and was a member of Little River Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sister, Joy Browning Green and husband Dicky of Sylva; one niece, Sasha Parks and husband Alec and their son Paxton of Graham, NC; one nephew, Chris Green of Fairfax, VA.
The funeral service will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Little River Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by the Transylvania County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little River Baptist Church for their continuing work in supporting the veterans.
