Obituary for Lindsay Cody Robinson sr.

Mr. Lindsay Cody Robinson, 74, of Brevard, North Carolina died Wednesday, September 2, 2009, in the hospital.







The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009, at Carson Creek Baptist Church, 60 Connestee Trail in Connestee Falls, Brevard, NC with Rev. Don Waters officiating. The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of the church following the service. Burial will be in the Beersheba Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 130 South Beersheba Road in Clover, South Carolina at 4:00 p.m.







Lindsay was born March 28, 1935 to Brice Lindsay and Mary Elizabeth Robinson in Clover, South Carolina. He was the oldest of three children. Lindsay graduated from Clover High School, Spartanburg Methodist College, and Wofford College with degrees in Mathematics and Physics. He received his Masters Degree in Public School Administration from East Carolina University. Lindsay married the love of his life, Sarah Belle Duncan, of Spartanburg, South Carolina on August 31, 1957.







Lindsay was a teacher, a principal, and a superintendent of schools. From education, Lindsay moved into data processing and went onto to become the Director of Data Systems for DHEC.







Lindsay and Sarah raised their family in Columbia, South Carolina. Lindsay was a member of the Lion’s Club, the Rotary Club, and the President of Civitans. Lindsay retired in 1990 to the mountains of North Carolina where he designed and built the home of his dreams. Lindsay founded and operated a home inspection business with his son. Lindsay sang from the time he was little and was always in church choirs, glee clubs, and choral societies. He sang with The Palmetto Masters Singers and was active in the Brevard Little Theatre and CATS where he took to the stage.







Lindsay was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, USA for thirty-five years. He was an active member of Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church in Columbia. Most recently, Lindsay attended Carson Creek Baptist Church in Brevard where his deep bass voice was a mainstay in the choir.







Lindsay was a Silver Life Master bridge player. He loved to play bridge and lesser card games with his family and friends on the deck of his mountain home overlooking the lake. He also enjoyed shopping for bargains, fixing things, travel, and FOX news.







Lindsay is survived by his wife Sarah Duncan Robinson, his children, Vivian Elizabeth Mowery, Mary Cecelia Robinson, Sarah Joyce Robinson, and Lindsay Cody Robinson, Jr. as well as his grandchildren, Melinda Rashelle Robinson and Matthew Taylor Fouche, his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Linda and Bruce Bridges his nephew, Bruce Keith Bridges, niece Ashley Elizabeth Bridges, and son-in-law, Bill Mowery.
