Obituary for Mary "Catherine" Chapman (Rogers)
Rosman – Mary “Catherine” Chapman, 71, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015.
She was the daughter of the late J. B. and Mildred Watkins Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Rogers and her grandson, Eli Chapman.
Catherine fought a courageous 12 year battle of cancer but remained strong and dedicated to her family. She was a lifelong resident of Rosman and a member of Old Toxaway Baptist Church. She adored children and enjoyed being outdoors. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, adoring grandmother, faithful babysitter and loyal friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Tommy Chapman; sons, David Chapman and wife Elizabeth of Greer, SC and Daniel Chapman and wife Yvonne of Brevard; two daughters, Patricia Chapman Smith and husband Jeff of Cedar Mountain and Kayla Chapman Powell and husband Jordan of Fletcher; grandchildren, Alex Chapman, Jacob and Luke Smith and Makena, Peyton and Callie Powell.
Funeral Services will be held at 2pm, Monday, November 16, 2015 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Revs. Chester Chappell and Bill Bruner officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12noon also at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Old Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery.
Catherine loved flowers but appreciated all the loving care that Transylvania Hospice provided. Therefore, flowers are welcomed as well as donations to Transylvania Hospice, PO Box 2440, Brevard, NC 28712.
