Obituary for Perry Robert Raxter
Perry Robert Raxter, age 87 of Brevard, beloved husband and father, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Tore’s Home in Brevard.
Mr. Raxter was a native of Transylvania County. He had deep roots in the mountains that he dearly loved. He was born on December 15, 1930 to the late Perry Elzie Raxter and Mary Reba McGaha Raxter. In addition to his parents Mr. Raxter was also preceded in death by two brothers and six sisters.
He was a well known land surveyor and ran the Raxter Tree Farm for many years. He always did his best to help people. Mr. Raxter was loved by his family, friends, and all the staff Tore’s Home in Brevard. He was a member of East Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Helen Young Raxter; three children, Hope Wright of Asheville, Robert Raxter and wife Evey of Brevard, and Roger Raxter and wife Lisa of Lake Toxaway; three grandchildren, David, Jesse and Ashley Raxter; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Paxton of Brevard; two brothers, Preston Raxter of Hendersonville and Walter Raxter and wife Kathy of Penrose; several cousins and many nieces and nephews that loved “Uncle Perry”.
The funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, September 1, 2018 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 11 AM – 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Care Partners Hospice.
