Obituary for Robert "Bob" Stoner

Robert "Bob" Stoner
Brevard - Bob Stoner is, no doubt, enjoying the face-to-face meeting with his Savior as you read this! God mercifully took him Home Saturday, July 2, around 5:40 p.m. Bob, 84, had been in good health and very active until a recent injury left him in need of very serious surgery. Although given excellent care in Asheville’s Mission Hospital, the Lord graciously took Bob home even before the surgery could occur. For those who know and love God, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Bob loved the Lord, loved his Bethany Baptist Church family, and loved serving the Lord at The Wilds Christian Camp.

Bob’s dear wife, Ann, preceded him to Glory in 2014. Bob and Ann are survived by their children, Bob Jr. & Patty, Rick and Ellen, and Sandy and Mike, as well as by 7 grandchildren and their spouses, and by 16 great grandchildren.

Originally from Lancaster, PA, Bob taught accounting at Bob Jones University for 15 years before moving to Transylvania County in 1980 to work at The Wilds Christian Camp. Bob was loved and respected by many for his generosity, love and care for others, and love for and service to the Lord. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, July 5 from 6-8pm at Bethany Baptist in Brevard, 135 Bert Lane Road, Brevard, NC. A service remembering Bob’s life and love for the Lord will be held Wednesday July 6 at 11am at Bethany Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be before the service, starting at 10:00am for those unable to attend Tuesday evening. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Wilds Christian Camp Staff Kids Education Fund www.wilds.org . Interment will be at The Wilds Cemetery on Old Toxaway Road, Brevard NC.

On line condolences may be left at www.moodyconnollyfuneralhome.com.
