Obituary for William Jerry Morrill

William J. (Jerry) Morrill, 88, of Brevard, NC, and Bluffton, SC passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 surrounded by his family in Brevard, NC.
Jerry was born on October 21, 1927 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Wayne and Olga Welch Morrill. He graduated from South Side High School in Fort Wayne. During his high school years, he was the youngest manufacturing contractor during World War II, making bomber parts in the basement of his home under the tutelage of his father. After high school, he was drafted by the US Army and served in the Philippines. After his discharge, Jerry joined the Air Force Reserves and was called up to active duty during the Korean War. He later went on to college, received a B.S.E.E. from Purdue University, and became a licensed professional engineer for his entire career. Jerry joined the family business, Morrill Motors, Inc. where he was a co-owner.
Jerry and his wife, Mary, enjoyed traveling and lived for several years in the Turks and Caicos Islands. They recently began dividing their time between the mountains of North Carolina and the Lowcountry of South Carolina, areas they truly love. Those who knew and loved Jerry enjoyed his quick wit, sense of humor, and the amazing stories he often told.
Mr. Morrill is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Mrs. Mary Prifogle Morrill; children, daughter Terri Morrill of Marana, AZ, son David Morrill (Sherry) of Beaufort, SC, daughter, Linell Morrill Goodall (Chris) of Columbia, SC; and seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Goodall Hartley (Chuck), Margaret Goodall, Keegan Lynch, Anne Goodall, Jaime Lynch, Liam Lynch, and Aidan Lynch.
Memorials may be made to Hillsdale College and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Transylvania Regional Hospital and Hospice for the extraordinary care given to their beloved husband and father.
